The ideal Medical Assistant candidate is positive, energetic, intelligent, highly dependable, organized and an excellent multi-tasker. The MA is responsible for assisting the provider with patient visits, including both consultative and surgical procedures. Rooming patients, obtaining vitals, and assisting with surgical procedures on a daily basis are the primary responsibilities of our medical assistants. Experience with E-Clinical works EMR is a plus. At least one year of medical assisting experience in veins or vascular, cosmetics, dermatology, plastic surgery or other specialty providers office is required.
Primary Duties Include:
- Assisting our provider in delivering high quality patient focused care to all of our patients.
- Rooming patients, obtaining vitals and entering data into the patients chart.
- Setting up for procedures, cosmetic treatments and sterile field.
- Providing side by side assistance to our provider during surgical office procedures.
- Verbally giving pre and post operative instructions to the patient.
- Reviewing patient's medical history.
- Maintaining notes in our EMR system.
- Obtaining appropriate consents both electronic and paper.
- Sending prescription requests to our provider for sign off.
- Performing call backs.
- Performing EKG's (training can be provided).
- Some phlebotomy as needed (training will be provided).
- Wound care including unna boots (training will be provided).
- Cleaning and turning over patient rooms throughout the shift.
- Performing body contouring treatments (training will be provided).
- Assisting patients with medical grade skincare product questions and concerns (training will be provided).
- Performing Injections IM (training will be provided).
- Assisting with verifying eligibility and benefits and or obtaining authorizations for office procedures as needed.
- Communicating in office through EMR actions and documenting patient telephone calls as needed.
- Assisting with answering patient calls as needed.
- Obtaining Procedure Authorizations.
- Performing weekly Inventory.
- Attending special events.
Medical Assistant Skills and Qualities:
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others, patients and co-workers.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, understand instructions and procedures, and know when to seek information or advice.
- Proficient communication skills both written and verbal, bilingual a plus.
- Ability to work Monday through Friday. (no weekends unless a special event is scheduled, and those are voluntary).
- Ability to work well in a diverse fast paced workplace.
Experience and Education:
- High school diploma or GED required, RMA or Medical Assisting certificate a plus.
- At least one year employment experience as an MA in a specialty practice.
- At least one year experience obtaining and documenting patient vitals, and EMR experience.
- BLS Certification (can be provided).
- Experience performing injections and body contouring treatments or willingness to obtain on the job certifications for injections and body contouring.
- Experience assisting with surgical office procedures, or willingness to train on the job.
